Stephen Curry & Adam Pally Star As Buddies In New Peacock Comedy Series
Jul 24, 2024
It’s always a bit of a crapshoot when we see professional athletes try to act. Sometimes it works out decently enough. But most of the time, it seems to be pretty terrible. Peacock is hoping for the former with the release of the new comedy series, “Mr. Throwback.”

As seen in the trailer, “Mr. Throwback” tells the story of a childhood friend of NBA star Stephen Curry. The friend comes back in Curry’s life and they decide to work on a documentary about the friend’s life. Hilarity ensues. The cast includes Stephen Curry, Adam Pally, Ego Nwodim, Adyen Mayeri, Tracy Letts, Layla Scalisi, Tien Tran, and Rich Sommer. The series comes from the minds of the folks behind “Happy Endings,” David Caspe, Matthew Libman, and Daniel Libman.
Luckily for the folks involved in this sitcom, Curry is limited to just acting as himself. He doesn’t have to try to create a real character. So, you have to imagine it’s not going to be cringe. And also, it’s fortunate for Curry that he’s surrounded by such funny people who can probably carry the load. Obviously, we’ll have to see how it all turns out when the show is actually released.
“Mr. Throwback” debuts on Peacock on August 8. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
A down-on-his-luck memorabilia dealer looks for redemption by reuniting with his sixth-grade teammate, NBA legend Steph Curry.
