Colin Farrell’s ‘Batman’ Spin-Off Series Debuts September 19

Jul 28, 2024

While Matt Reeves made many good casting choices in his superhero film “The Batman,” the best of them might actually go to his version of The Penguin. Buried under a ton of prosthetics, looking absolutely unrecognizable, Colin Farrell brings to life one of Batman’s greatest villains. And now he’s getting his own show.
As revealed during today’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, we have our first look at a full trailer for the upcoming Max drama series, “The Penguin.” The trailer lays out the plot of the series, which finds Oz Cobb (Farrell) as he attempts to pick up the pieces of the Gotham underworld after the events of “The Batman.”

Here’s the synopsis of the series:
The HBO Original series THE PENGUIN, from Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, debuts this September. Starring Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb (aka “The Penguin”), the eight-episode DC Studios limited series continues filmmaker Matt Reeves’ The Batman epic crime saga that began with Warner Bros. Pictures’ global blockbuster “The Batman.” Developed by showrunner Lauren LeFranc, the series centers on the character played by Farrell in the film.
