Julie Bowen, Anna Camp, Bruce Campbell & More Star In Peacock’s New Supernatural Series
Aug 12, 2024
The “Satanic Panic” era in the ‘80s is not the best time in our country’s history. That’s when an older generation believed that Satanism was running rampant and young kids who liked Dungeons & Dragons and heavy metal music were somehow responsible for horrific crimes. But it does make good fodder for TV series, such as “Hysteria.”
As seen in the teaser for “Hysteria,” the series features a small town in the ‘80s that is seemingly normal and quaint, but might very well be a location where the Devil decides to come back. Or maybe it’s all just Satanic Panic, right?

The new series stars Julie Bowen, Anna Camp, Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, Kezii Curtis, Nikki Hahn, Bruce Campbell, Garret Dillahunt, Nolan North, Elijah Richardson, Milly Shapiro, Allison Scagliotti, and Jessica Treska. Filmmaker Jordan Vogt-Roberts is on board to direct episodes of the series. The series marks Vogt-Roberts’ first project since 2017’s “Kong: Skull Island.” He’s also no stranger to TV, having directed episodes of series such as “You’re the Worst” and “Mash Up.”
“Hysteria” is set to debut on Peacock on October 18. You can watch the teaser below.
Here’s the synopsis:
When a beloved varsity quarterback disappears during the “Satanic Panic” of the late 1980s, a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts realize they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band, until a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings, and reported “supernatural activity” triggers a leather-studded witch hunt that leads directly back to them.
