Stephen Graham Reveals if He Will Return for the Netflix Peaky Blinders Movie

Oct 11, 2024

Another major star has now revealed his involvement in the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, with Boiling Point and Venom: The Last Dance star Stephen Graham telling Deadline that he will reprise the role of union man Hayden Stagg. The hugely talented British actor revealed that he will return alongside Cillian Murphy in the NetflixPeaky Blinders project while on the red carpet for the London Film Festival (LFF).

While he avoided revealing too many details about his role in the movie, he did say to the outlet that he is “looking forward to seeing the lads again” on the Peaky Blinders feature, which will continue the crime saga about Murphy’s ruthless gang leader Tommy Shelby.

Debuting back in 2013, Peaky Blinders follows Cillian Murphy as Thomas ‘Tommy’ Shelby, the dangerous leader of the Peaky Blinders, a criminal gang based in Birmingham in 1919. The series came to an end with its sixth season in 2022, with the final moments seeing Tommy riding off into the sunset with the world believing him dead. While this was expected to be the end of Tommy’s story, this is clearly not the case, with the actor now all set to return as Tommy and run into several faces from his past, including Graham’s Hayden Stagg, who was introduced in Season 6, and Tom Hardy’s Alfie Solomons.

The Peaky Blinders Movie Is Set During WWII

The Peaky Blinders movie has amassed a stellar cast so far, with returning actors Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, and Stephen Graham being joined by Mission: Impossible star Rebecca Ferguson and Academy Award nominee and The Banshees of Inisherin star Barry Keoghan. While plot details remain under wraps, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has now revealed some details about the setting of the movie.

“We’ve announced Rebecca Ferguson, we’ve announced Barry Keoghan, we’ve got some more announcements coming. It’s set in the Second World War, and it’s really good.”

As well as the Peaky Blinders movie, Stephen Graham has plenty of work currently in the pipeline. The actor is all set to return as Patrick Mulligan (and likely get his own symbiote buddy) in Venom: The Last Dance, which will see him star alongside Tom Hardy. Graham is also due to reunite with Steven Knight on the upcoming Disney+ boxing drama A Thousand Blows, and will work again with Netflix following the mystery sci-fi miniseries Bodies as he takes the lead in the four-part crime drama Adolescence from writer Jack Thorne.

Graham can currently be seen starring alongside Saoirse Ronan in director Steve McQueen’s critically acclaimed World War II drama, Blitz, which is scheduled to be released in select cinemas in the United Kingdom and United States on November 1, 2024, followed by a streaming release on Apple TV+ on November 22, 2024. If that were not already enough to keep him plenty busy, Graham is also due to star alongside The Bear actor and Emmy Award winner Jeremy Allen White in the Bruce Springsteen biopicDeliver Me from Nowhere.
