She Follows Featured, Reviews Film Threat

Gio Randazzo’s short film, She Follows, tells the story of a man who is followed by a ghost and challenged to make a tough decision.
While wandering the Atlantic City boardwalk late at night, our hero, Jack (Gio Randazzo), becomes fixated on a ring in a jewelry store, which triggers terrifying visions. He soon turns around to see a ghostly figure—a young woman walking down the street.
Jack’s phone unexpectedly rings, and it’s his girlfriend, Nercys (Angelique Pereira). She wonders if Jack will visit her family over the holidays, but Jack is non-committal. Suddenly, the ghost appears, but when Jack points his cell phone at it, Nercys sees nothing.
“Quickly hanging up, Jack heads home with the mysterious specter following each step he takes.”
Quickly hanging up, Jack heads home with the mysterious specter following each step he takes. Not looking where he’s going, Jack trips and finds himself in a darkened room—and he’s not alone.
I get the sense that horror shorts have to be the most fun films for burgeoning filmmakers. For writer/director/star Gio Randazzo, there’s just this sense that he found a real-life ghostly legend, built a story for his protagonist to connect with the dearly departed, and then decided to scare the hell out of everyone.
In She Follows, Randazzo crafts a cinematic experience by combining simple sets, location shoots, and a seamless blend of CG effects. The result is a heartfelt and eerie story that creates a compelling and engaging narrative.
