A New Book Of The Dead Appears As Evil Dead Burn Trailer Seemingly Hints At Major Franchise Connection
May 6, 2026
The Deadites are back for another brutal night in the new Evil Dead Burn trailer. Hailing from Infested duo Sébastien Vaniček and Florent Bernard, the upcoming film continues the recent standalone story trend of the horror franchise, shifting the focus to a family of in-laws who, in the wake of the death of the family patriarch, come together to grieve. When the emergence of a new Book of the Dead unleashes the terrifying Deadite threat, the group also start to discover the dark secrets in their family’s past. Ahead of the film’s July 8 international release and July 10 domestic release, Warner Bros. has released the official Evil Dead Burn trailer. The video offers further insight into the gruesome next installment in the horror franchise, including the various blood-soaked kills and set pieces in the film, while also seemingly teasing the story’s ties to a key figure in the franchise. Check out the trailer below:
The new Evil Dead Burn trailer certainly showcases Vaniček bringing a very different style to the horror franchise. The opening moments, in particular, of Tandi Wright’s Susan questioning Souheila Yacoub’s Alice and Hunter Doohan’s Joseph as they frantically come in the front door after an encounter with a Deadite while immediately showcasing a unique energy and visual approach to the series, as does some of the more dreamlike imagery toward the end of it. However, the trailer also shows that Vaniček is bringing in a variety of key Evil Dead trademarks for his standalone story. The Kandarian spirit that possesses and transforms people into Deadites can be seen getting the same first-person perspective shot flying through the movie’s locations, while Alice using a hedge trimmer as a weapon feels like a direct callback to Bruce Campbell’s Ash wielding a chainsaw to fight the undead.

All 6 Evil Dead Necronomicon Versions & Their Differences Explained
Every Evil Dead movie has a slight variant of the Necronomicon book, either in appearance or name. Here is each book and its unique features.
One of the more interesting elements of the Evil Dead Burn trailer is the indication that the grandfather of the central family was the one who found the Book of the Dead in the film and was familiar with its dangers. While it seems likely that this will be a new Book altogether, the tease of the family having a dark past, and one of the Deadites saying to the family, “We found you,” does raise the question whether the characters will be the extended family of Professor Knowby, the archaeologist who discovered the first Necronomicon, from the original two films.
Additionally, the new Evil Dead Burn trailer also offers some proper insight into whom the Deadites will successfully kill in the film. Luciane Buchanan’s Thya looks to be a recurring Deadite threat in the film, with her hot-wax-drinking scene sure to be one of the more remembered for its unique form of self-punishment, while Susan’s grief may see her attempt to use the Book to bring back both her late husband and others who die in the film. With Alice being the one to have inadvertently summoned the Deadites, as well, it will be interesting to see if she meets the same fate as others who have done so in the franchise’s past.
