A Quiet Place 3 Gets Massive Filming Update From John Krasinski

May 11, 2026

A Quiet Place Part III is officially starting to make a lot of noise. While the prequel film A Quiet Place: Day One was released in 2024, a third installment continuing to follow the horror franchise’s original storyline has been in the works for several years now. In 2022, it was announced that the sequel would be coming to theaters in 2025, but there have since been several delays. On Instagram, A Quiet Place Part III director John Krasinski has now confirmed that filming on the sequel is underway. He shared an image from the start of shooting in New York City and the caption: “Here. We. Go! #Part III” Check out his post below:

Released in 2018, the first A Quiet Place movie tells the story of Lee Abbott (Krasinski) and his family trying to stay as quiet as possible in order to stay alive in a post-apocalyptic world. Krasinski directed the film, which became a massive box office hit as it grossed more than $340 million worldwide against a $17 million budget. Lee sacrifices himself at the end of the first movie, but appears via flashbacks in A Quiet Place Part II, which Krasinski returned to direct. The sequel continues to follow Lee’s wife, Evelyn Abbott (Emily Blunt), and their children as they take the next steps in their fight for survival, learn more about the aliens who have taken over their world, and connect with other survivors. While A Quiet Place Part III’s story will continue to focus on the Abbott family, it also has the potential to tie into the prequel, which explores what happens during the first days of the alien invasion, and even bring back surviving characters like Eric (Joseph Quinn). Djimon Hounsou’s character, Henri, is in both A Quiet Place Part II and Day One, which makes it more feasible to further connect the characters and storylines from the sequels and the prequel.

A Quiet Place Part III is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 30, 2027 and looks to continue the franchise’s dominant box office performance. Part II earned $297 million against a reported budget of $61 million, and this was in May 2021, when theaters were still in the early stages of recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. A Quiet Place: Day One’s box office also performed well, grossing $267 million globally against a $67 million budget.

With the prequel being a commercial success despite not being centered on the Abbott family, their return in A Quiet Place Part III makes the sequel’s box office prospects even more promising. The lengthy hiatus between the mainline films also adds to the anticipation, as by the time the upcoming movie comes out, it will have been six years since A Quiet Place Part II was released in theaters.
