Ant-Man 3 Trailer Reveals First Look at Bill Murray’s MCU Debut
Dec 30, 2022
The moment has arrived: Bill Murray is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On Monday, Marvel Studios released the official trailer for the upcoming sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, revealing a sneak peek at the returns of Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as the titular superheroes. Meanwhile, fans were also treated to the official first look at Murray’s character in the film, and the Ghostbusters star’s name is now trending on social media as many discuss the actor’s MCU debut.
“Ant-man, Wasp, Kang, [a]nd Bill Murray,” posted one fan on Twitter. “Yea Marvel take all my money. Bill Murray alone was enough for me.”

“We have Bill Murray in a freaking Marvel movie in 2023,” another fan says. “Who’s been listening to my dreams and prayers?!!!”
Someone else wrote, “Scott, Cassie, KANG, BILL MURRAY?? This is the first time I’ve actually been excited for a Marvel movie since Endgame.”
It hasn’t been stated exactly who Murray is playing in Ant-Man 3, but some fans are taking their guesses after seeing him in the trailer. One fan asked, “Looking at the costume and remembering the oddly specific characters Marvel didn’t let the MODOK cartoon use… is Bill Murray playing Turner D. Century??? What a strange time to be alive.”
Many fans are excited to see Murray making his entrance in the MCU, but at the same time, there have been a lot of people on Twitter crying foul. Some suggest Murray should not have been featured in the trailer after the actor has been in the headlines in recent months due to allegations of problematic behavior. This includes a report from earlier this month that Murray had settled an assault lawsuit against him for $100,000. He’s not the only actor in the film who has some Marvel fans unhappy as Evangeline Lilly has also created controversy with her views on vaccinations.
“wild of marvel to give us a radicalized antivaxxer and bill murray on the same trailer in this economy!” one person on Twitter noted.

Bill Murray’s Arrival Has Been Long Teased
Marvel Studios
Bill Murray’s casting in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was first reported on in October 2021. He confirmed his involvement at the time by announcing that he “made a Marvel movie,” which was later revealed to in fact be Ant-Man 3. Paul Rudd also teased Murray’s MCU debut by saying how the actor “can do anything,” leading fans to wonder who he will be playing in the film. That hasn’t been revealed, though Murray has said that he plays a villain. He’s also stated how he only took on the role to work with director Peyton Reed.
“I made a Marvel movie,” Murray told the German publication Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. “In any case, some people were quite surprised why I decided on such a project. But for me the thing was quite clear: I got to know the director – and really liked him very much. He was funny, humble, everything you want from a director. And with the cheerleader story Bring It On, he made a movie years ago, which I think is damn good. So I agreed, although I’m not interested in these huge comic book adaptations as an actor otherwise.”
Along with Murray, the film stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathryn Newton, Randall Park, and Jonathan Banks. Peyton Reed directed using a screenplay by Jeff Loveness. It is produced by Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantuamania will be released in movie theaters on February 17, 2023. You can check out the official trailer below, which offers the first look at Bill Murray in the MCU.
