Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam will go against the JSA in Black Adam.
Warner Bros.
Several new posters for the upcoming DC outing Black Adam offer another look at Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the title character alongside the superhero team, the Justice Society of America. Released courtesy of the official Twitter account for Black Adam, the latest ensemble poster teases that power will be born from rage, with individual character posters offering a detailed look at both Black Adam and the supporting cast of heroes.
After nearly five thousand years of imprisonment, Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson), an antihero from the ancient city of Kahndaq, is unleashed into modern times. His brutal tactics and way of justice attract the attention of the Justice Society of America, who try to stop his rampage, teach him how to be a hero more than a villain, and must team up to stop a force more powerful than Adam himself.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam is a project that Johnson has wanted to bring to the silver screen for decades, with the movie set to introduce not just his titular antihero but also the Golden Age superhero team, the JSA.
Black Adam Finds Dwayne Johnson’s Antihero Going Up Against the JSA
Warner Bros.
The first JSA character poster depicts One Night in Miami star Aldis Hodge, who cuts a regal figure as the leader of the JSA; Carter Hall AKA Hawkman. An archaeologist who discovers that he is the reincarnation of an Egyptian prince, Hawkman has the power of flight from his stunning metal wings, and is a great and proficient warrior.
The next poster offers another look at James Bond star Pierce Brosnan as Kent Nelson AKA Doctor Fate. Taught the ways of sorcery and given the magical Helmet of Fate, Brosnan has described the character as “the elder of the group,” adding, “I’m assured he’s one of the oldest characters in the pantheon of comic-book characters. He’s an archaeologist.”
Next up is Euphoria and In Treatment star Quintessa Swindell as Maxine Hunkel AKA Cyclone, the granddaughter of former hero Red Tornado, who can control wind and generate sound.
Lastly, we have To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before star Noah Centineo, who stars in Black Adam as JSA member Albert “Al” Rothstein, AKA Atom Smasher, who can control his molecular structure and manipulate his size and strength.
Black Adam director Jaume Collet-Serra has teased the incoming battle between The Rock’s antihero and the Justice Society of America, as well as explained how adding more DC heroes into what is considered a solo outing is a more interesting way to world build. “You have a couple of seasoned veterans, like Hawkman and Doctor Fate, and you have a couple of newbies like Atom Smasher and Cyclone,” the filmmaker said. “And that chemistry and coming together to try to defeat someone who’s undefeatable like Black Adam, creates a lot of interesting situations without having the pressure to carry the whole movie. That’s a much more fresh way in.”
Black Adam is scheduled to be released in the United States on October 21, 2022, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
