Home Trailers Black Adam Promo Sees Dwayne Johnson Take a Big Punch from Hawkman

Black Adam takes on Hawkman in the latest footage from next month’s DC outing.

Warner Bros. Pictures

A new promo for Black Adam finds Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson taking a huge punch from Aldis Hodge’s Justice Society of America leader, Hawkman. Released courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures, the new footage teases the battle between Black Adam and the JSA and ends with a line of dialogue that quite neatly describes Johnson’s antihero in a nutshell: “There’s no one on this planet that can stop me.” Check out the new Black Adam promo below.

Alongside seeing The Rock take a fist to his Hollywood leading man face, the newly released footage also offers another glimpse at Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, who attempts to plead with Black Adam to surrender. Sadly, it does not go well, with Black Adam replying “I’m not peaceful. Nor do I surrender.” Expect a lot more lines of dialogue similar to this one throughout the events of Black Adam.

Other small slices of new footage include looks at the main antagonist of Black Adam, Sabbac; Sarah Shahi’s character Adrianna Tomaz who goes on to become the superhero Isis; and Black Adam unleashing a thundercap on an army of unsuspecting soldiers.

One Night in Miami… Star Aldis Hodge Will Lead the JSA as Hawkman

Warner Bros. Pictures

As well as introducing Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam, the DC outing will also mark the big screen debut of the Justice Society of America. One Night in Miami… star Aldis Hodge will lead the group as Carter Hall AKA Hawkman, an archaeologist who discovers that he is the reincarnation of an Egyptian prince. Hawkman has the power of flight from his stunning metal wings, and is a great and proficient warrior.

Standing alongside him are James Bond star Pierce Brosnan as Kent Nelson AKA Doctor Fate, a sorcerer in possession of the Helmet of Fate; Euphoria and In Treatment star Quintessa Swindell as Maxine Hunkel AKA Cyclone, the granddaughter of former hero Red Tornado, who can control wind and generate sound; and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before star Noah Centineo as JSA member Albert “Al” Rothstein, AKA Atom Smasher, who can control his molecular structure and manipulate his size and strength.

Hodge has been waiting and hoping for some time to join a comic book movie franchise, describing his role in Black Adam as “literally like what I imagined winning the lottery to feel like. I had been very, very much looking forward to being a part of any kind of superhero universe. I didn’t care what it was for such a long time just because I had been such a fan. I grew up on graphic novels. I got into the business so I could earn money to buy Batman toys, you know? It was like 13 to 15 years of constantly going up to bat and getting told no. So it really was a validation of those last few years of pursuit, hustle, and preparation.”

Black Adam begins in ancient Kahndaq, where Teth Adam is bestowed the almighty powers of the gods. After using these powers for vengeance, he is imprisoned, becoming Black Adam. Nearly 5,000 years have passed and Black Adam has gone from man, to myth, to legend. Now released, his unique form of justice, born out of rage, is challenged by modern day heroes who form the Justice Society: Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher and Cyclone.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani, Black Adam is scheduled to be released in the United States on October 21, 2022, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
