Black Adam’s Noah Centineo on the New DC Cinematic Universe
Mar 23, 2023
Black Adam was not only the introduction of Dwayne Johnson’s titular character but also the first adventure of the Justice Society of America, formed by Noah Centineo’s Atom Smasher, Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate, Quintessa Swindell’s Cyclone and Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman. But, unfortunately, it was the first, and the last time we saw them on screen. At least for a while.
After the movie bombed at the box office in the middle of the Warner Discovery crisis, James Gunn and Peter Safran, the new head of DC for any cinematic and television project, decided not to move forward with The Rock’s vision of the character and declared that Black Adam wouldn’t be a part of the plan that they’re developing for the following years.

Now, thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we have Centineo’s take on the recent drama:
“I honestly can’t even speak to any of that. I don’t really know what their plan is, and I’m psyched to see what they do with the DC world. For me, I’m just really excited to see Peter Safran and James Gunn’s vision for DC, those guys, they know what they’re doing. So, we’ll give it to him. I’m excited.”

The Future of DC at Warner
Warner Bros./DC Studios
This year, DC and Warner Bros. will release four films: Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. None of these characters have their future assured in the franchise, with the long-term plan being actively developed mainly by Gunn, with details about it coming out soon.
We do know that Henry Cavill’s Superman won’t be a part of the new DCU, with the company looking for a younger actor to play the Man of Steel. Gal Gadot’s return is also a mystery, but considering the idea of Warner Bros. wanting young stars that can play the roles for a few films, it would not be a surprise if we get a new Wonder Woman too.
When it comes to Batman, Matt Reeves will continue to develop side projects around the world he has built with Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight, but they won’t be a part of the main plan. So, we’ll get to meet a new version of Bruce Wayne that will align with the rest of the protagonists of this newly expanded universe.
Joker 2 will also be an independent movie, set to make its way to theaters in 2024, with Joaquin Phoenix once again playing the Clown Prince of Crime and Lady Gaga as his love interest, Harley Quinn.
