It’s an exciting time at DC Studios, as James Gunn recently took over as co-CEO of the expanding DCU. The filmmaker will work hand-in-hand with Peter Safran to oversee the future of the comic book film franchise, ushering in a new era under Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav. We know Henry Cavill is returning to the big screen with a new Man of Steel, and Gunn recently took to his Twitter to tease another character under the DC umbrella.
Mr. Terrific may be a new character joining the DCU, as Gunn shared a photo of the hero with his 1.3 million followers. His tweet can be found below.
Following the tease, fans immediately started replying to Gunn, throwing out their ideas for a possible casting choice. The top comments include bids for William Jackson Harper (Midsommar, The Good Place), LaKeith Stanfield (Sorry to Bother You, Atlanta), and Jonathan Majors (Lovecraft Country, Loki), to name a few.
Of course, Majors has officially joined the MCU as the next big baddie, Kang the Conquerer. However, his presence in Marvel doesn’t eliminate the actor from possible roles in DC. Fans shared a few more names, including Sterling K. Brown (Black Panther, This Is Us) and John Boyega (Star Wars, Pacific Rim).
Unfortunately, the tweet was far from an official announcement. Gunn only shared a picture of the comic version of the character, with no caption or hint toward a project in development. So fans will have to wait and see whether Mr. Terrific joins the DCU and what his role in the larger story would be. For now, audiences can dream of their fan-casting for the part and share more ideas with the co-CEO of DC Studios.

Mr. Terrific Has Seen a Live-Action Portrayal in the Past
Mr. Terrific was brought to the small screen as Curtis Holt in the CW series Arrow. Echo Kellum plays the character, joining the show in the fourth season in 2015. He would quickly become a significant part of the series, appearing in 73 episodes until the final season in 2019, where he starred in the show’s last episode.
Recently, Kellum starred as a voice actor in Solar Opposites and appeared as Mike in The Old Man alongside Jeff Bridges. Marvel has shown their ability to transfer characters from their unrelated TV counterparts, such as Charlie Cox’s Daredevil returning in She-Hulk. However, will DC take a similar route and allow Kellum to reprise his role on the big screen? Unfortunately, any news surrounding a Mr. Terrific project is likely years away, if it’s coming at all. Until then, fans can continue to debate who is the best choice for the unannounced DC role.
