Jason Statham Stole My Bike Officially Sets Release Date For Next Year

Jun 5, 2026

Jason Statham is adding bicycle thief to his on-screen resume. The action star has already played a transporter in The Transporter, a bank robber in The Bank Job, a “mechanic” (actually an assassin) in The Mechanic, and a beekeeper in The Beekeeper. But Statham’s next on-screen career move could be the strangest of all, as his upcoming movie sees him teaming up with the director of Deadpool 2 in an action-comedy with a meta twist. Jason Statham Stole My Bike is the unlikely title of the star’s next vehicle, which has now officially received a release date of August 6, 2027 (via Deadline). David Leitch’s meta-movie wraps filming this week, with plot details and further casting yet to be revealed. Its August 6 release date will put Jason Statham Stole My Bike up against an untitled Bluey movie from Disney and an untitled event film from Universal.

Leitch previously served as director of Statham’s Hobbs & Shaw, worked as a second unit director on the action star’s The Mechanic and Parker, and was a stunt performer on Statham’s early sci-fi flop Ghosts of Mars. The Deadpool 2 filmmaker spoke about his latest Statham collaboration in an April 2026 interview with Collider, clarifying that the star is not simply donning his usual action persona for their meta-movie, but is trying something more intriguing. “No, he’s playing Jason Statham,” Leitch explained. “He’s playing himself. I think that that’s what’s really interesting about it to me. I think it’s different than some of these other meta movies.” The director continued, “It’s a small movie, and it’s really a sweet, funny action. There’ll be a lot of action, but you’re going to see Jason be fun.”

Viewers can bring their kids to Jason Statham Stole My Bike, with Leitch revealing that the film will carry a PG-13 rating. “It’s fun, and it’s family, and it’s a chance for Jason and I to do something we’ve been wanting to do for a long time, and that’s, really, get together and make a story with a heart,” the director said. Statham’s 2026 kicked off with the release of Shelter, an action thriller that went on to gross $53 million at the box office. Next up is Mutiny, scheduled for release on August 21, 2026. In addition to Jason Statham Stole My Bike, the star’s 2027 docket includes The Beekeeper 2, set for release on January 14. Statham is also set to reunite with Guy Ritchie for Viva la Madness, release date yet to be announced.
