Schwarzenegger Is Turned Into Sound of Music’s Maria & Sings In Mind-Boggling Deepfake

May 29, 2023

Arnold Schwarzenegger transforms into Maria from The Sound of Music and sings in an eerie deepfake. After winning the Mr. Olympia bodybuilding title six times, the Austrian native attempted to use his fame in a career transition to acting. After struggling to gain major roles, Schwarzenegger was cast as the titular hero in the 1982 fantasy epic Conan the Barbarian. The critically-acclaimed performance led to major roles in several blockbusters, including The Terminator, Commando, Predator, and The Running Man, securing Schwarzenegger’s status as Hollywood’s premier action star of the decade.

Comedian and deepfake artist Brian Monarch used Schwarzenegger’s Austrian heritage as inspiration for his Sound of Music video in which he replaced Julie Andrew’s head and voice with the Last Action Hero star’s.

Impressionist Joe Gaudet provides Schwarzenegger’s melodic voice as the deepfaked actor sings the musical’s opening number, “The Sound of Music.” However, Gaudet throws in a couple of crude jokes for good measure.

What’s Next For Arnold Schwarzenegger

After Schwarzenegger’s fifth time as the stoic futuristic cybernetic organism in Terminator: Dark Fate, the actor has yet to appear in a live-action film or television role. He has since created an animated children’s series titled Superhero Kindergarten, where he voices a gym teacher turned superhero. Schwarzenegger also lent his voice in an episode of FX’s animated sitcom Little Demon. He will see his cinematic return this year in Kung Fury 2, a martial arts comedy starring David Sandberg, Michael Fassbender, Alexandra Shipp, and Jorma Taccone.

Soon, Schwarzenegger will make his live-action scripted television series debut in Netflix’s FUBAR. The action comedy sees the actor portray Luke Brunner, a CIA agent who kept his profession hidden from his family. However, his life becomes complicated when he learns his daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) has been hiding her true profession as a CIA agent, too. Rounding out the cast are Jay Baruchel as Carter, Fortune Feimster as Ruth, Gabriel Luna as Boro, and Andy Buckley as Donnie.

Two weeks after FUBAR’s premiere, Schwarzenegger will become the subject of a three-part documentary series titled Arnold. The Netflix production details the actor recounting major life events with friends, coworkers, costars, and family. Although the Hollywood action legend has left an incredible legacy on the industry, Schwarzenegger appears to only be at the start of the next chapter of his life.
