Storm Discusses His Shocking Blindside on ‘Deal or No Deal Island’

Feb 4, 2025

When it comes to Deal or No Deal Island, once you step foot on the Banker’s Private Island, the name of the game is to win. But sometimes, love may be brewing, and the objective may change. Having laid pretty low during the season, Storm Wilson was sitting pretty. He was in with a group majority. He was coasting without a target on his back. That is until a certain someone caught his eye: Maria-Grace Cook. The showmance between Storm and MG caused an immediate target, stifling his game suddenly.
With Dickson Wong taking on the Banker, all signs pointed toward him eliminating Courtney “CK” Kim should he beat the banker. But he blindsided Storm and the rest of the players when he took him out without warning. “I was fully blindsided” he admitted.

COLLIDER: Love was brewing on the Banker’s Private Island. It’s Storm! How are you?
STORM WILSON: It could be going better. I could be on reality TV shows. We are in the exit interviews, so it’s going as it’s going
Well, let’s start simple. If you could describe your experience in three words, what would they be?
STORM: Luxurious. Well, I would say stressful. Not really. I wasn’t really stressed, even when, up to the point I got kicked out, I was pretty going. So luxurious. Beautiful. Super, super pretty. And once in a lifetime.
What was it like being out there on the Bankers Private Island? It looked gorgeous.
STORM: It was. It was gorgeous. You know, we were on an island, right? So sometimes it would be raining. Sometimes it would be perfectly sunny. And even when it was raining, it was an absolute experience. We had these massive, super beautiful domes with these Cinderella-looking mosquito nets that we kind of slept under every single night. There was a clear pain in the top so we could see stars. The food kind of messes our stomachs for a bit. I don’t know if that’s been talked about or not, but people cook things a little bit differently in the Bakers Island than the you do in America. So, there was an adjustment period. But it was great. It was, it was super, super fantastic.
You said that you weren’t there for the money but for the experience. So, did you get what you wanted out of the experience?
STORM: Absolutely. Absolutely. I went off kind of early, right? I was fourth off. But I still got to meet a bunch of cool people. I still got to sit in Temple and watch people play. Watch Dickson, frankly, play one of the greatest Deal or No Deal games I’ve ever seen. I made a great relationship with somebody. Actually, made great relationships with everybody. But got to show one on TV. Got to see myself doing it on TV. So, it was a super, super neat, neat process.
Alright, let’s spill the iced tea. What was it about MG that caught your eye?
STORM: I mean, I don’t know. Whenever I was doing my casting and trying to get on the show, they’d asked me at one point, “Are you single? Are you the girls?” I was like, “Yeah, no, I am single.” I wouldn’t be opposed to a showmance or a cute girl on the island or something like that. And they’re like, “Okay, well, what’s your type of girl?” And I told them as a kind of a joke, kind of not, tall, dark and handsome. I like a girl that’s a little bit taller, not like, super, super short. I like her when she’s tan, and I like her when she’s super pretty. It’s kind of what I was going for. And they picked up on that. And when we got there that first day, and we were sitting on the boat, I looked over to my left. I had Lete, who was tall. They got one of the characteristics right there. And then looked to my right, and I saw dark and handsome, exactly what I asked for. And the producers are also playing a little bit of Cupid, sitting us next to each other in the boat, putting us next to each other in Temple. So they kind of knew what they were doing a little bit. And she was quirky, and she’s cute and funny, and I was just attracted to that. And so we kind of started off with a little bit of flirty banter, and then eventually, on my last night there, we just kind of started getting a little more serious about sort of working together, a little bit, having a little bit more fun, doing cutesy stuff. Then, you know, we were asked what happened.

What Is the “Black Widow Brigade” and Why Is It Important To ‘Deal or No Deal Island’?

This black widow is ready to strike!

Did you know that being in a showmance could put a target on your back?
STORM: Yeah. Yeah. Before this, I’d been kind of interviewing for Big Brother. One of my friends actually ended up getting it. So before I ended up doing that, I remember kind of doing some research on do’s and don’ts of reality TV, and showmance was like a riskier one. But for a show like this, where it’s not the entire group voting against you guys, it’s just really one person, I wasn’t as worried about the showmance at the time. Also, me and MG hadn’t really done anything super, super big at this point. I was kind of trying to let other people sort of take all the noise and attraction to them, so I could kind of fly under the radar for a little bit of the game. So, the thought was, okay, my alliance sees that I’m kind of talking a little bit with MG. Maybe they’ll be sketched out about it, but we were pretty close, so I figured they knew I was going to use this to our advantage. “The Family” might not like it, but the same thing would happen with them. They’re going to look at MG like, “Oh, it’ll help us get information.” And anybody else not in those two alliances were just on their own anyways, so I didn’t really see it as threat. I remember thinking it’s fine. And if anything, people are just gonna think it’s relatively innocent and fun. Also a shield.
So now you mentioned Big Brother. Who is that friend?
STORM: It is MJ.
Nice.
STORM: Makensy Jo Manbeck. One of my really, really good friends. We go way back a bit.
She played a great game.
STORM: She played a great, great game. Yeah.
Storm Shares Dickson’s Terrible Strategy That Got Him in Trouble

Why was someone like CK perceived as someone who needed to go?
STORM: So, without revealing too much right, up to this point, CK is starting to begin her villain era. So she’s starting to kind of, in my opinion, lose it a bit. Forgetting that, hey, this is a game. She’s starting to really enrich herself in Deal or No Deal. And they don’t show this on TV, but she actually cheated in the axe-throwing competition. She looked at my book when we were taking names so she could try to figure out sort of how I gauged it. And maybe that would give her sort of a leg up of thinking where everybody else is gauged. And I remember she’d come up to me, and she was like, “Hey, where did you rank me? Where did you put me?” And I was like, “I honestly, I don’t even remember.” I didn’t remember totally. But I was like, “I don’t remember. I think somewhere roughly in the middle.” She’s like, “That’s a lie. You put me at five.” And I was like, “There’s 16 cameras on us. We’re all miked up. Did you just admit that you cheated?” Also, five is pretty much in the middle of like 11 or 12 people, however many there was. I pretty much told you that. And a couple other people heard like, “Yeah, what the f- was that?” And so they didn’t show it in the show because it didn’t really affect anything. I believe later in the show they might show up, because this is not her first offense. Because of that, people start not really gravitating toward her as much. And Dr. Will sleeping in blue dome. And although we don’t fully trust him yet, he’s kind of getting closer with us at the same time. So somebody who doesn’t like him is eventually kind of going to turn into somebody we don’t like.
Right. Let’s talk about Dickson’s amazing run here. Were you feeling nervous that he could target you at all?
STORM: Not even a little bit.
So it was a blindside.
STORM: I was fully blindsided. Yeah. Earlier that day, talked to him, right? I felt like I was kind of manipulating him in a good way, right? It was going to get rid of CK. And then Dickson’s fine, which I was fine if Dixon has to go. That isn’t my first choice. So be it, he’s not in my alliance. But I was not really targeting him. I was targeting, first of all, somebody that wasn’t me, and second of all, somebody that wasn’t in the alliance, because I’d had the least blood on my hands. And so I talked to him earlier in the day. He told me to my face, “I really don’t think you have anything to worry about. Nobody here even wants you gone. You’re a great guy.” Which, part of me feels like he was not going into that competition ready to take me out. I think that he was actually going in ready to take CK out. And then he had this crazy game, and he was feeling good and on this power trip, and he was like,f- it, I’m gonna do something crazy. And he just shocked the world and made his mark, or whatever. And then I went home.

‘Deal or No Deal Island Season 2’s Dickson Wong Needs To Ditch Shallow and Genat

Wong must separate himself from these formidable competitors

Did you buy his reasoning that he didn’t feel like he could beat you in the end?
Although I believe that’s true, that was not what he told in Temple fully. He kind of said that, but he more so brought up the reason is because I was going around exploiting his plan. They didn’t show this, but Dickson walked up to me, Lete, Parvati, Phillip, Seychelle, and one other, I think it was MG, and he had the exact same line. He didn’t really get creative. Very unoriginal. He said, “Hey, I really don’t think anybody would see it coming if we’re working together. We should work together.” I was talking with Lete and David one night, and I was like, “Yeah, you know, whatever, Dickson this and that. He honestly told me. ‘I think nobody would see it coming if we’re working together.'” And Lete looked at me, and she’s like, “He said exactly that.” And I was like, “Yeah, he said exactly that.” She’s like, “Word for word. He said the same thing to me.” Then David was like, “Yeah, he said the same thing to me.” And to MG about it. She’s like, “He said the same thing to me.” I didn’t even tell anybody. I called them out a little bit. I was like, “Hey, you should maybe stop telling people the same thing. Maybe mix it up a little bit, Dickson, because everybody’s catching on.” He’s like, “Oh my God, my God.” But I didn’t tell anybody, and I told him I was going to tell anybody. Lete he told some people, and so word’s starting to get out. And I think he used that as a scapegoat. I think he knew that it wasn’t me, but I think he used it as reason to get rid of me. But that’s what he really said. Because I was, ruining his plan. He was seen as different after he won that $5 million.

Now, we had some reality stars in the cast. Did you know who they were prior to the show?
STORM: I knew who Parvati was, right? There’s a clip where it shows Dickson walking up like “Hey, I know you’re Parvati. I had a huge crush on you.” I was walking up to say the same thing. He just happened to beat me to it. And I don’t watch a whole lot of reality TV. It was just right before I got to the island, I was doing research on YouTube, which really was just me playing Survivor highlight film. This random YouTube video came up of “40 Hottest Female Survivor Players,” and I was looking at it, and other things the same time. And I remember seeing Parvati because she had such a unique name. And then we got to the island, I looked at her, and I was like, holy sh-. The fact that I know that she’s on Survivor through this random thing is crazy. Because she had a picture of her and I was watching clips and highlights, so subconsciously, I’ve seen her and I recognized her as I saw her.
Let’s say Ben steps aside as a briefcase model. Would you step in for him?
STORM: Oh, for Ben? Yeah, no, I wouldn’t mind putting people’s fate of winning millions of dollars in my hand. Plus I get to hang out with Kamari, so that doesn’t sound like the worst job ever.
Right! Not a bad job. I know we don’t like to kiss and tell, but tell me about that parting smooch from MG.
STORM: MG. It’s actually really funny. She posted something yesterday, and I think she’s making jokes, but she was like, “Yeah, I don’t know if I really liked that kiss, right? There’s so many cameras on us, I’m nervous.” But when we kissed after the show, whenever there weren’t cameras on, it was not that bad. And so while she said that, and that’s definitely true, highlight the kiss on camera. I liked two hands around the cheek. The romantic aspect of it. I didn’t know that it was the last time I was see her, but…
It was a great way to go out, for sure. Now let’s end with this. Finish the sentence. The best moment of my Deal or No Deal Island journey was blank.
STORM: It’s a toss-up. And for this, I want to tell you the best moment of my Deal or No Deal experience was kissing MG at the very end, with the lighting and the sadness of me leaving and her coming back. Maybe hitting the axe right after I missed. And it was perfect, because she had just done that. Like, that was all pretty real. So that was a really cool moment. And then me and Dr. Will actually cracked coconuts together and drank coconut water. None of the cameras caught that, but that was that was pretty f- cool, too. So yeah, a compilation of those. I’d say a lot of MG stuff, though.
I love that. Well, Storm, you are amazing. It was so fun watching you, and I hope to see you on screen again soon.
STORM: We’ll see. I don’t know if they take fourth out people on other reality TV shows, but if they do, I’ll be ready!
