Supergirl Fan Art Makes the Case for Chloe Grace Moretz to Join the DCU

Mar 24, 2023

We could end up seeing a new Supergirl flying into the picture for the new DCU established by James Gunn and Peter Safran. With the future of the DCU still unclear ahead of more official announcements from the new heads of DC Studios, there has been a lot of speculation over which characters will be reimagined with new actors, disregarding previous castings for Justice League and its connected films. Online, horrific.heroics on Instagram has joined the fray with new fan art of Chloë Grace Moretz in the role of Supergirl, and you can take a look below.

For what it’s worth, Moretz seems pretty willing to jump back into a superhero world after previously playing Hit Girl in two Kick-Ass movies. Last fall, she was asked about possibly joining another superhero tentpole. While she is open to a role in the MCU or DCU, Moretz adds that she hopes to play a supervillain, perhaps as that would be a departure from playing the fan favorite Hit Girl.

“I would be really interested in playing a villain in Marvel or DC, and jumping into more of the darker side of the role,” she told ComicBook.com. “I love a superhero. I think that’d be really fun, too, but I think it’s just all about finding the one that really matches what you’re wanting to get across, and the scope of the character. I think it’d be really fun if it was the right role and the right project.”

Is Sasha Calle Already Finished as Supergirl?

It’s not clear what will be happening exactly with Supergirl in the DCU. Sasha Calle had previously been cast to debut as the DCEU’s Supergirl in The Flash, and at the time, the plan was probably for her to appear in multiple other projects. With the DCEU crumbling, there’s a good chance Calle’s Supergirl may go with it, as we’ve already seen happen with Henry Cavill’s Superman. It’s just as possible that Gunn and Safran keep Calle around in the role to mingle with their new Superman they’ll be introducing, but for now, all we can do is speculate until the official announcements come.

The Flash will hit movie theaters on June 16, 2023. Meanwhile, for more of Moretz, you can find her in the new sci-fi series The Peripheral on Prime Video.
