No matter how many years pass or how many filmmakers adapt his work, the stories written by Charles Dickens are constantly serving as inspiration in pop culture. Now, Hulu is taking a turn at Dickens with the upcoming series, “The Artful Dodger.”

As seen in the new teaser, “The Artful Dodger” is a successor to Charles Dickens’ classic, “Oliver Twist.” Catching up with Jack Dawkins, aka the Artful Dodger, after he is sent to Australia, the series finds the criminal masquerading as a surgeon. However, when an old friend arrives in his town, he’s forced to pick up his bad habits of thievery. 
The series stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster, David Thewlis, Maia Mitchell, Damon Herriman, Tim Minchin, Miranda Tapsell, Luke Carroll, Kim Gyngell, Vivienne Awosoga, Nicholas Burton, Susie Porter, Damien Garvey, Lucy-Rose Leonard, Jessica De Gouw, and Andrea Demetriades.

An irreverent follow-up to Charles Dickens’ classic novel, “Oliver Twist,” the new series The Artful Dodger explores the double life of Jack Dawkins — Dickens’ famous prince of thieves. Set in 1850s Australia, in the lively colony of Port Victory, Jack Dawkins (i.e. The Artful Dodger) has transferred his fast fingers as a pickpocket to the skilled hands of a surgeon. But Dodger’s past returns to haunt him with the arrival of Fagin, who wants to lure him back into a world of crime.
