The Super Bowl Trailer For PROJECT HAIL MARY Teases a Massive and Fun Sci-Fi Adventure! — GeekTyrant

Feb 13, 2026

Amazon MGM Studios and Warner Bros. went big and released the Super Bowl trailer for Project Hail Mary, and it delivers on the promise of a massive, emotional sci-fi ride. This thing looks cool, intense, and heartfelt, setting the tone for what could be the best sci-fi movie of 2026.Based on the novel by author Andy Weir, the story drops us straight into deep space with Ryland Grace, played by Ryan Gosling. Grace wakes up alone aboard a spacecraft near Tau Ceti with no memory of his name, his mission, or how he even got there. All he knows is that something has gone very wrong back on Earth, and somehow he’s tied to humanity’s survival. The trailer leans hard into that unsettling confusion, letting the mystery breathe while slowly dialing up the stakes. As Grace starts putting the pieces together, the scope of the mission comes into focus. He isn’t just drifting through space. He’s the last shot Earth has at stopping a catastrophic event unfolding millions of miles away. The official synopsis lays out the core of the story like this: “Astronaut Ryland Grace awakens with no memory of himself or his mission. He deduces he is the sole survivor of a crew sent to the Tau Ceti solar system in search of a solution to a catastrophic event on Earth.“In his search for answers, Grace must rely on his vast array of scientific knowledge, sheer ingenuity, and human will – but he may not have to search alone.”The supporting cast includes Sandra Hüller, who plays Eva Stratt, the sharp and uncompromising force driving the mission from Earth, while Milana Vayntrub appears as Olesya Ilyukhina, one of Grace’s fellow crewmates. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the duo responsible for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie, and 22 Jump Street, directed the film. This is a big swing for them in terms of scale, and the trailer makes it clear they’re pushing into new territory without losing their knack for character-driven storytelling. The screenplay comes from Drew Goddard, whose resume includes Cloverfield, The Cabin in the Woods, World War Z, The Martian, and Bad Times at the El Royale. Project Hail Mary looks like an awesome movie and the countdown is officially on, with the film set to land in theaters on March 20, 2026.
