This ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory LEGO Set Lets Fans Enter a World of Pure Imagination
Aug 25, 2025
LEGO has given fans a Golden Ticket as it announces the launch of its Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory set. This latest build will feature one section of the factory, filled with candy-inspired designs, as well as the five chosen kids who were invited to enter a world of pure imagination. The set is scheduled to come out this year, making it a great addition for candy-loving fans. The Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory set has a listed price of $219.99 and is scheduled to come out on September 18, 2025. It contains 2,025 pieces and nine minifigures, allowing builders to recreate the Chocolate Room, which includes the chocolate waterfall; the Wonkatania boat; candy plants; and minifigures of Willy Wonka, Charlie Bucket, Grandpa Joe, Augustus Gloop, Mike Teavee, 2 Oompa Loompas, Veruca Salt, and Violet Beauregarde. And it’s not a Willy Wonka set without the Golden ticket; it’s been transformed into an attachable LEGO minifigure accessory. This latest set is based on a LEGO idea submission by the user BRICKUP. The idea was first submitted in November 2023 and received the required support numbers from fans before the LEGO Company assessed and decided if it would be transformed into a real set. This isn’t the first time LEGO Ideas has brought an existing IP to life thanks to fan submissions. Other previously approved sets include “Twilight The Cullen House,” from The Twilight Saga, the “Disney Pixar Luxo Jr,” a Nightmare Before Christmas set, and a Jaws set, just to name a few.
What’s ‘Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory’ About?
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is an Academy Award-nominated film starring Gene Wilder, which is based on Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It tells the story of a young boy named Charlie Bucket (Peter Ostrum), who manages to find one of the five Golden Tickets, inviting him and a guardian to meet Willy Wonka (Wilder) and get a tour of the famous factory. According to Charlie’s grandfather, Grandpa Joe (Jack Albertson), the factory would be a target of espionage from rival candy makers due to its popularity, which eventually led to the factory being shut down. However, it’s still in operation, and it’s only during the tour that it’s revealed that Wonka’s newest employees are the Oompa-Loompas. Since its release in 1971, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory has been highly praised by fans and critics alike and has become an instant cult classic. Additionally, it was added to the U.S. National Film Registry for preservation in 2014. A prequel film called Wonka was released in 2023, which starred Timothée Chalamet as the young chocolatier. Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is available to stream on HBO Max.
