Born Again’ Season 3 Set Photos Reveal Kingpin’s Fate & Bold New Look

Apr 25, 2026

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and Season 3.Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is hurtling towards its finale, with only two episodes left until the dramatic events of the Matt Murdock saga are brought to a close for another year. However, rumors and set leaks continue to fan the flames of the Hell’s Kitchen fire, as several key details have already emerged about the show’s future. Filming for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is currently underway in New York City, having officially begun in March, giving rise to a slew of sneak peeks. The latest production photos might provide the best insight yet into how the story will progress following the turbulent roller-coaster of the second season. The snaps, shared by @_DaredevilShots on X, seemingly reveal the fate of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk in the aftermath of the character’s political story arc, which saw him serve as the corrupt mayor of New York City in Season 2. The photos reveal a bold new look for Fisk, suggesting that his life trajectory has taken a drastic turn, as the Kingpin star sports a prominent white beard and unassuming clothing, including a long winter coat and beanie hat, which is a far cry from his signature tailored suits. His complete switch-up in appearance indicates that he has transitioned into a low-profile era, where he is trying to stay under the radar rather than in the spotlight, delivering speeches and addressing the public about his provocative plans.

Fisk’s off-grid living situation follows the events of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, where he begins to lose his grip on the city – and himself – after the tragic death of his wife, Vanessa, which arguably obliterated the last remnants of his humanity. The latest photos reveal a major plot point that further underscores Fisk’s downfall. Faded campaign posters appear in the background of the shots, urging citizens to vote for Fisk’s former aide, Sheila Rivera, to become mayor. This shift in government was already teased in the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day (shared below), as Rivera was shown presenting Spider-Man with a key to the city, confirming that her campaign is successful and that she ends up taking office as the new mayor. It is an enviable position, not only for Fisk, who has lost control of the city, but also for D’Onofrio, as the actor has made it no secret that he would like his character to face off against Spider-Man. He reignited his campaign for a cinematic showdown between Kingpin and the MCU’s friendly neighborhood “insect” in March, stating that it depends on whether Sony and Marvel can get “their sh*t together” to make the crossover happen. Meanwhile, it seems that Rivera is closer to the web-slinger than he has ever been on-screen.

Even without Spider-Man in the mix, it looks like Fisk will have his hands full in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. Set sightings have signaled a major reunion of Marvel’s street-level heroes, including the return of Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones), alongside Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), who made an explosive comeback in Season 2, potentially marking the first Defenders team-up in years. The reason that they will be sharing the screen as the core team again is unknown, as the current season has not yet reached its conclusion. However, there are persistent rumors that they will be forced to unite to safeguard the city in the absence of Matt Murdock, who, by the looks of it, may be spending at least part of the season in prison.

Dario Scardapane remains as the showrunner on Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, with directors Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead, and Iain B. MacDonald returning to helm various episodes. Principal photography began in March and is expected to wrap in July, with a suspected release in March 2027, following The Punisher: One Last Kill, a bumper Frank Castle special, that will be released on Disney+ on May 12, 2026, and the arrival of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which hits theaters on Jul. 31, 2026. This year is also expected to bring premieres of X-Men ’97 Season 2, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2, and VisionQuest, as well as the penultimate chapter of the Multiverse Saga, the much-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday.
