‘Foundation’s Lee Pace Teases Even “Bigger” Story in Season 4
Apr 9, 2026
The return of Apple TV’s critically acclaimed, yet somehow still sorely underrated, three-part science fiction epic has just been given the perfect hype, with a returning star not only offering a production update but also calling the next outing “bigger” story that will open up “a whole other dimension.” The criminally underrated sci-fi epic in question is Foundation, which wrapped up its now 91% rated third season back in September last year. Created by David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman for Apple TV+ and based on the “Foundation” series of stories by seminal author Isaac Asimov, Foundation is by far one of the most gloriously complex science fiction sagas ever crafted. Not just for the small screen, period. In the simplest terms, Foundation chronicles the thousand-year saga of “The Foundation,” a band of exiles who discover that the only way to save the Galactic Empire from destruction is to defy it. But trust that there’s a whole lot more to it than that.

And, somehow, there’s about to be a whole lot more, with Foundation star Lee Pace revealing to ScreenRant that Season 4 is now filming. The actor calls the upcoming season “really cool,” and “bonkers,” before teasing that the fourth season will add “a whole other dimension to the story” that will “open up a whole new dimension for the show.”
“We’re in Prague right now. I’m in Prague right now in the middle of shooting season 4, so we are hard at work on it. I think it’s really cool this season. The show, it gets more bonkers every season. The story gets bigger. Now, we’ve added a whole other dimension to the story that I think, if you’ve been with Foundation for the first three seasons, this is going to open up a whole new dimension for the show. So I’m very excited for people to see it. I’m having a great time shooting it for sure.”

Alongside Pace, Foundation’s large ensemble cast is brimming with powerhouse performers, including Jared Harris (Chernobyl, The Terror), Lou Llobell (Voyagers), Leah Harvey (Fighting with My Family, Les Misérables), Terrence Mann (Sense8, The Blacklist), Laura Birn (Void, A Walk Among the Tombstones), and Clarke Peters (The Wire, Da 5 Bloods), and more. Spanning hundreds upon hundreds of years of the Galactic Empire across 30 episodes, Foundation is nothing less than a sci-fi masterpiece and has consistently captivated audiences with its intricate world-building, stunning visuals, bold storytelling, and compelling performances. How exactly Season 4 will make things even bigger still remains to be seen, but if any sci-fi saga can do it, it’s Foundation.
