KUNG FU FU LENGEND Teases Another Hard-Hitting Chapter in the Martial Arts Franchise — GeekTyrant

The Ip Man franchise keeps throwing punches, and now another sequel is stepping into the ring with Ip Man: Kung Fu Legend. Well Go USA has released the first trailer for the upcoming martial arts action movie, which brings Dennis To back as the legendary Wing Chun master in a story that leans heavily into old-school underdog energy and brutal street-level fights. The franchise famously launched with Donnie Yen starring as Ip Man in the hugely popular run of films that started in 2008, and while Yen’s era wrapped up years ago, the series clearly isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Ip Man: Kung Fu Legend continues the timeline established in 2019’s Ip Man: Kung Fu Master, with To reprising the role once again.Set in 1950s Hong Kong, the new film follows Ip Man after he leaves the police force to open his own martial arts school. Things spiral fast when a Western boxing gym starts buying up properties connected to the local martial arts community, threatening to wipe out the traditions and culture tied to them. Naturally, Ip Man isn’t about to stand by and watch that happen. The trailer definitely sells the movie as a scrappy, fight-for-the-people martial arts story packed with fast punches, spinning kicks, and the kind of choreographed beatdowns fans expect from this franchise. It also has that classic “protect the honor of kung fu” setup that fits perfectly within the Ip Man universe.Alongside Dennis To, the cast includes Wang Wanzhong, Zhang Tingfei, Zhao Jingshuyu, Zhang Jie, Wu Xinzun, Tong Xiaohu, Zhou Xiofei, Steven Dasz, and Li Yaojing. The film is directed by Li Liming, who has become a familiar name in modern martial arts cinema with projects including Ip Man: Kung Fu Master, Young Ip Man: Crisis Time, Ghost Ship, Fangs & Fury, The Wolfman, Dong You Zhuan, and Fury in the Shadows. And if one new Ip Man sequel wasn’t enough, another follow-up titled Ip Man: Kung Fu Legacy is already in production and currently aiming for a 2027 release. If you’re into old-school martial arts movies with righteous heroes, corrupt rivals, and lots of bone-rattling combat, this one looks like it’ll scratch that itch nicely.Well Go USA will release Ip Man: Kung Fu Legend on VOD in the U.S. starting July 14th, 2026.
