2026 is shaping up to be a big summer for Green Lantern. Lanterns is set to debut on HBO in August with Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre stepping into the roles of Hal Jordan and John Stewart, respectively. Ahead of Lanterns, another corner of the DC multiverse is set to introduce its own version of Green Lantern in a critically acclaimed DC series. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Auliʻi Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the 2016 animated film of the same name, has joined the cast of My Adventures with Superman. Cravalho will voice Jessica Cruz, who will become a Green Lantern. My Adventures with Superman reimagines Jessica Cruz as a teenager. She will make her debut in Season 3, Episode 2, before leading the spin-off My Adventures with Green Lantern. See the first look at the character below:

Jake Wyatt, showrunner on My Adventures with Superman and the upcoming My Adventures with Green Lantern, stated the following regarding Cravalho’s casting:
“Casting brought us a lot of fantastic reads for Jessica. But when I heard Auli’i, there was this complexity of emotion to her read — a natural, almost oblivious charm that she brought to Jess — and I knew she was the one. But I hadn’t even looked at the name, I just ran out of my office like, ‘Have ya’ll heard this take??’ Then Stephanie [Gonzaga] and Karen [Graci] told me that it was Auli’i, that she was already a princess, how she’d done brilliant work with Karen on a previous show, and that was that.”
Jessica Cruz is DC Comics’ first human female Green Lantern. She was teased in Green Lantern #20 in 2013 before making her first full debut in Justice League #31 in 2014. Since her relatively recent creation, she has been adapted multiple times. Myrna Velasco voiced the character on DC Super Hero Girls. Diane Guerrero voiced Jessica Cruz in the animated film Justice League vs. The Fatal Five back in 2019. Dascha Polanco provided her voice for Jessica Cruz in the 2022 animated film, DC League of Super-Pets. Auli’i Cravalho rose to prominence with her vocal performance as Moana in the hit Disney film. She reprised her role for the sequel, Moana 2, as well as a cameo in Ralph Breaks the Internet. She previously played Janis in 2024’s Mean Girls. Known for her strong singing voice, Cravalho has an impressive theater resume, having starred in Sunset Boulevard, Evita, Children of Eden, and Cabaret. My Adventures with Superman Season 3 debuted on Cartoon Network and HBO Max on Jun. 14. It currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Regarding how Jessica Cruz will fit into My Adventures with Superman, and set up her eventual role as a Green Lantern in her upcoming spin-off series, Wyatt said:
“We’d already planned for the second episode to showcase how Supergirl [Kiana Madeira], in particular, was changing their world. We wanted to look at how different people had very different reactions to the same Kryptonian. So when word came down from the brass that Green Lantern was greenlit, we wanted our pre-Lantern Jessica Cruz to give us the girl-on-the-street view of Supergirl. How would a shy, relatively powerless teenager see this powerful, young super-woman out there changing the world? And what would it be like for Supergirl to see herself through Jess’s eyes?”
My Adventures with Green Lantern was announced in February 2025. The series will center on Jessica Cruz getting a Green Lantern power ring that falls from the sky and picks her to be its wielder. Cruz later discovers that a crashed alien warship also unleashed a wide variety of foes she must contend with while overcoming her own insecurities. Wyatt had previously mentioned that My Adventures with Green Lantern had not officially been picked up for a season order, though now that a Disney Princess is voicing the character, the series’ prospects may look more favorable.
