Netflix Confirms ‘Money Heist’ Expansion With New Teaser
May 12, 2026
The Netflix original series Money Heist ended with its fifth and final season five years ago, but now it seems that enough time has passed for the streaming service to revitalize the franchise. The news of more stories set in the world of Money Heist came along with confirmation that Berlin Season 2 is premiering on Netflix on May 15, 2026. Netflix’s catalog of original series continues to grow, and the platform is not afraid to take its successful original series and expand them. What is most intriguing about the latest announcement is that it seems to suggest more than one Money Heist spin-off is happening. The news of more Money Heist came with an official teaser trailer (which can be viewed below). Other than the statement and the video, there isn’t much to go off of about where the story could go next. A gold bar is featured at the end of the teaser, which has created speculation about the focus of the next Money Heist project. The Spanish crime drama has become a worldwide sensation whose characters have engrossed audiences, and the statement from Netflix about how the story isn’t over can be read below:
“From the first heist for cash to the most artful robbery of the century, including the assault that put tons of gold from the Bank of Spain on the line, the universe of Money Heist has never stopped growing, evolving, and surprising us. But if there’s one thing that’s clear, it’s that the revolution NEVER ends. From now on, this is mission control for everything in the ‘Money Heist’ universe. If you want in on the next plan and don’t want to miss a single move from the gang, this is the place to be. The world of Money Heist continues on Netflix.”

Netflix’s Berlin, which is connected to Money Heist and focuses on Pedro Alonso’s character before the events of the main series, also found incredible popularity on the Netflix streaming charts. The show was one of the biggest international shows and ranked high in viewership upon its initial release, and the second season will more than likely achieve similar success. What is interesting is how Netflix timed this tease of more Money Heist projects, as this news comes just days before Berlin Season 2. Whether that means the ending of this new batch of episodes will tie into a new story or set up a potential sixth season remains to be seen.
Money Heist star Alvaro Morte, who played the Professor, is the one who delivered the announcement during the world premiere of Berlin Season 2 that the world of the Netflix original series isn’t quite done yet. The impending expansion of the franchise is not too dissimilar to what the platform is doing with its other successful series, such as Squid Game and Stranger Things. Both of those properties have their own spin-off shows in the works featuring new and existing characters. It will be interesting to see if this Money Heist continuation takes the form of a sixth season or a new series entirely.
