Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Landman’ Delays Release by One Month to December 2025

Aug 2, 2025

Back in May, a Paramount earnings call gave fans hope that they would see Taylor Sheridan’s record-breaking series, Landman, return to screens by November, following hot on the heels of another Sheridan show, the Jeremy Renner-led drama, Mayor of Kingstown. Now, during the latest update on the state of Paramount, it has been revealed that Landman fans will have a little longer to wait then originally expected. Landman has been in production since last month on its second season, and the show has a lot to live up to when it makes its return to Paramount+. The first season debuted in December 2024 and immediately claimed a place as the most-watched Paramount+ original series – although its crown would be taken soon after by the return of another of Sheridan’s many shows, 1923. In its first four weeks on streaming, Landman reached 14.9 million households according to global streaming figures. Now, it looks like the series’ second season will debut a month later than originally announced and will drop into the same December release slot that its first season occupied, rounding out another successful year for Sheridan, and ushering in more of the same in 2026.
It’s All Change Behind the Scenes on ‘Landman’

While Sheridan wrote the series, directed some episodes of Season 1, and had a strong input in the making of Landman’s record-breaking first season, it looks like he won’t be stepping behind the camera for any of Season 2’s episodes, which will instead all be directed by Stephen Kay, who helmed half of the original run. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year, star Ali Larter said:
“[Stephen] is directing all 10 episodes this year. Last year, Michael Friedman directed three; Stephen directed, I think, five; and Taylor directed a couple. That being said, Taylor would come in and direct all my stuff because he loves forming these characters and he wants them big and bold.”
Taylor Sheridan has been involved with some of the most successful TV shows of the last decade. From Yellowstone to Lioness, the writer, director, producer, and actor seems to have no end to his creative talents, which is no doubt very annoying to others in the industry – I mean, come on, give other people the chance to do something on Paramount+. This year, though, it has become clear that even the mighty Taylor Sheridan has to pull back from the front line on occasion, and as well as stepping back on Landman, he will also have limited input on the new CBS spinoff centering on Yellowstone’s Kayce Dutton. However, with more Yellowstone spinoffs and sequels still in development, Sheridan fans don’t need to worry about him trotting off into the sunset anytime soon. Source: Paramount
