The Bloodiest & Horniest TV Series in History Returns in Action-Packed Look at Anticipated Sequel

Sep 27, 2025

The bloodiest and horniest TV series of the century is back after a 12-year absence. Spartacus: House of Asher has finally set a premiere date on Starz, and to celebrate, a new crop of images has been released showcasing all the seductive action that’s to come. Debuting back in 2010, the sword and sandal series created by Steven S. DeKnight took audiences by storm thanks to its extreme violence, nudity, and compelling characters that were inspired by actual historical figures. Spartacus: House of Ashur is the next chapter in the bold action franchise, presenting fans with a history-bending saga that asks: What if Ashur had lived? The gladiator drama will make its premiere on Starz on December 5, 2025, with two back-to-back episodes, and from there the remaining ones will be released weekly on the Starz app, and all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms. Returning for Spartacus: House of Ashur is none other than Ashur himself, Nick E. Tarabay. Other stars include Graham McTavish (The Witcher, House of the Dragon) as Korris, Tenika Davis (Jupiter’s Legacy, Cabinet of Curiosities) as Achillia, and Jordi Webber (Choose Love, Prosper) as Tarchon. Check out the full synopsis and new images below:
“Spartacus: House of Ashur is a thrilling, erotic, history-bending, roller-coaster experience that builds on everything that made the original series a colossal hit. What if Ashur had lived, and the Romans rewarded his treachery with the gladiator school where he once bled? Welcome to the House of Ashur.
No longer a slave, Ashur has clawed his way to power, owning the same ludus that once owned him. But ruling a band of merciless gladiators is child’s play compared to surviving the savage world of Roman politics — a cutthroat game in which betrayal isn’t a sin, it’s currency. He flips tradition on its head by unleashing Achillia, a fierce and powerful gladiatrix eager to prove herself worthy in a man’s world. Together, they ignite a new kind of spectacle that shocks, disrupts and offends the elite with every drop of blood.”

‘Spartacus: House of Ashur’ Is Already Receiving Criticism for Being “Woke”

While many fans are definitely excited about the news of the return of Spartacus, the series is already drawing criticism from those online who claim it’s gone “woke” for featuring a female gladiator. As such, they’re already proclaiming Spartacus: House of Ashur dead in the water, hoping for its downfall before a single episode even airs. Others have questioned the need for a series set in an alternate timeline, and would rather we just get a continuation of the previous seasons. However, those are the loud minority, as most others who have watched the trailer that was released earlier this year have been receptive to Spartacus: House of Ashur, saying they can’t wait to see where DeKnight and company take things in this thrilling new chapter. Look for Spartacus: House of Ashur to debut on Starz on December 5, 2025. For those interested in watching the series from the beginning before the new installment drops, it’s available to stream on both Starz and Netflix.
