Filmmaker Tim Burton is having a bit of a career second wind, pivoting to television with his Netflix series’ Wednesday,’ a live-action reboot of “The Addams Family” for a new generation.
With Netflix’s big event, Tudum, underway this weekend, the streaming giant has shared a new six-minute clip from the latest season of the Jenna Ortega (who Burton is also working with on the “Beetlejuice” sequels at Warner Bros.) series and revealed that Haley Joel Osment is joining the cast in the role of a serial killer called the Kansas City Scalper.

A synopsis for the new season, courtesy of Netflix:
Wednesday Addams (Ortega) returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends, and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery. 
The rest of the ‘Wednesday’ cast features Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester), Joanna Lumley (Grandma Hester Frump), George Burcea (Lurch), and Steve Buscemi (Principal Barry Dort).
Another significant addition is Grandmama, played by veteran British actress Joanna Lumley (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Absolutely Fabulous”), who is Morticia’s mother.
If you’re not aware, “The Addams Family” was the creation of Charles Addams with his quirky comic strip first published in The New Yorker in 1938 that was turned into a beloved TV series in the 1960s that was later mined for a string of live-action films from director Barry Sonnenfeld (“Men In Black”) and more recently had some animated features.

You can watch the ‘Wednesday’ clip from the upcoming second season below, as Netflix is premiering the new episodes in two parts on August 6 and September 3.
